New Delhi: Nicole Kidman-starrer ‘Grace of Monaco’, produced by YRF Entertainment`s Uday Chopra, is set for a Dec 27 release.
The Weinstein Company (TWC) has acquired the US distribution rights of Olivier Dahan`s forthcoming film. ‘Grace of Monaco’ will have a limited release when it comes out on Dec 27 based on the model the company used for the Oscar-winning movie ‘Iron Lady’.
"It has been a wonderful experience to be working with Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth and the whole group. I am very happy now to share the experience with Monsieur Weinstein and the whole team at TWC. This is exciting," said Dahan in a statement.
In the film, Nicole Kidman plays luminously beautiful movie star Grace Kelly who became a real-life princess after marrying Prince Rainier III of Monaco, played in the film by Tim Roth.
Kelly struggles to make peace between her adopted country and France.
Kelly had given up her acting career to become Monaco`s First Lady and then manoeuvred through a political minefield to resolve the situation, as detailed in the film.
TWC co-chairman Harvey Weinstein said more than 30 years after her death, "Kelly`s story continues to be one of insurmountable allure and we are so happy Dahan has brought it new life" .
"As usual Kidman`s commanding performance is the perfect portrait of a woman who was not only royal, but who also remained a legend of the silver screen and fashion icon," he added.
The film also features Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Milo Ventimiglia and Derek Jacobi in supporting roles.
