Mumbai: Actor Gaurav Gera, who has been playing the lead role in live Bollywood musical ‘Jhumroo’, has taken up a new TV assignment – ‘Tota Weds Maina’. He is excited about playing a small town boy and hopes it will help him hone his acting skills.
"As an actor, I always wanted to explore different genres of work. Be it working in ads or television, this is just my effort to hone my acting skills," Gaurav, remembered for his role as Nandu in ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin’, said in a statement. Talking about his character in the family comedy show, he said: "My character in the show is a boy from a small town in Uttar Pradesh. He ends up getting married to a very modern girl. The show revolves around how my character (Tota) and his family members adjust to such a diametrically opposite lifestyle." Actress Kavita Kaushik plays his `Maina` in the show, which promises to be laden with dollops of humour, with a love story at its core. The mismatched couple may elicit more laughter in the show because of their respective heights -- while Gaurav is short, Kavita is taller. IANS
