Fadnavis govt revises order on prime time screening of Marathi films

New Delhi: The Maharashtra government today revised its previous order which made it mandatory for multiplexes to screen a Marathi film in the prime slot between 6-9 pm.

The government's previous orders had received mixed response on social media, but mostly it drew flak from the film industry who slammed the diktat.

After facing criticism, CM Devendra Fadnavis led govt has now relaxed its rules and allowed multiplexes to screen Marathi films anytime between 12-9 pm.

This order has come out on the day Shiv Sena led protests against writer Shoba De outside her house. She had tweeted against the order and slammed the rule on Twitter.

The previous directive which was issued on April 6, was a part of the new BJP-led government's initiative of `Make in Maharashtra` campaign. Following the benefits offered by the Maharashtra government, several private companies have come forward to take Marathi films globally in an organised manner. 

The move was made to give Marathi films global exposure.
