Mumbai: Disney Pixar's new film "Inside Out", which premiered at the Cannes film festival this year, will pay tribute to movies like "UP", "Cars" and "Toy Story".

The animated film, directed by Academy Award-winning director Pete Docter will have references to the married life scene from "Up", props from "Toy Story" and the San Francisco city cars will have bumper stickers from "Cars."

The movie, which opened to good reviews at Cannes, traces the journey of Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco.

Riley is then guided by her emotions ? Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith).

"The Emotions are kind of like the voices in our heads," Docter said in a statement.

"When we were just getting started on this film, we looked around?at our kids, friends, co-workers?and we realized that everybody has a default temperament. We all go through periods of being happy or sad, but certain people are just happy or angry or what have you.

"Riley is one of those happy kids. So Joy had to be the first Emotion to show up, and she has a very special bond with Riley," the director said.

"Inside Out" will hit theatres on June 26.
