Los Angeles: Giving an end to the speculations, chief Pixar animator John Lasseter has revealed "Toy Story 4" will be a 'brand new chapter' in the series.

58-year-old John, who directed movies like "Cars" and "Cars 2", has teased details about the upcoming fourth instalment in the popular animated franchise, revealing the plot will not follow on from 2010 prequel "Toy Story 3".

"Toy Story 4" will hit theatres in June 2017.

"We're in the early stages of the film, but it's shaping up nicely. It's funny. The story is not as much a continuation of the past films, but a brand new chapter in the "Toy Story' world," John said at the Cannes International Film Festival. "Toy Story" franchise is based on the anthropomorphic concept that all toys, unknown to humans, are secretly alive.
