Prince William meets 'One Direction' in London

London: Prince William and Kate Middleton met boyband royalty One Direction at a recent event here.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shook hands with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson when they were attending the Royal Variety Performance at the London Palladium, reported Daily Mirror.

The band chatted briefly about their tour plan with William, who said he had been "keeping a close eye" on them, and his wife.

"I said congratulations on the bump," Styles shared after the meeting, adding that she "didn't look bumpy." Payne admitted that he was really nervous, saying, "It's the most nervous I think I've ever been in my life."

Tomlinson, meanwhile, was worried that he made mistake when greeting Prince George's mother. "I didn't say ma'am. I said - Hi. How are you? I'm Louis," the singer recalled.

Apart from the super group, the event was attended by Bette Midler and Ed Sheeran. Ellie Goulding, who sang at the Duke and Duchess' wedding, was also present.
