Shaan, Purbayan to come together on stage for `Shaan-e-Shaan`

Shaan will perform with Purbayan Chatterjee at a concert `Shaan-e-Shaan` later this week in their first musical fusion.

Kolkata: Bollywood playback singer Shaan will perform with renowned sitarist Purbayan Chatterjee at a concert `Shaan-e-Shaan` later this week in their first musical fusion.
"For 20 minutes we will be presenting on stage the tracks from our first collaborative album, which will be brought out by the end of this year. The album will bring together classical strands which will be released in October this year.
"There could be impromptu jamming during the show as it happens in a live show depending on the situation," Purbayan told during a press meet today. Shaan, 39, one of the most popular singers of the country today, would also be belting out his own popular and favourite numbers as well as tracks as tribute to late Dev Anand and Shammi Kapoor. "It is perhaps the aesthetic connect between us that might have brought us together. So far my performance is concerned it would have raga elements, retaining the understated classical flavour for my own brand of audience," Purbayan, who gave his first sensational performance at the age of just five years, said. Popular singer Raghab Chatterjee, who will also be performing solo at Shaan-e-Shaan on March 9, said he will sing some of his chartbusters in Bengali and Hindi but may also join Shaan for a duet session in the later half. "It is a brew of classical and light music on the same podium. Me and Shaan are of the same age and we share a great rapport. So if we can charm everybody with soulful musical scores, that could be the best possible thing bringing the three of us together," the singer, who wowed the audience in "Raincoat" and "Parineeta", said. Purbayan, who will be leaving for Paris immediately after his show for a classical recital, said, "As a musician I feel enriched by interacting with different cultures and music from different genres."
