London, Mar 10: Will Michael Jackson be able to pull off a tremendous comeback at his concerts this summer?Annie Lennox won`t be buying a ticket to find out.
The Scottish singer says she`s worried that Jacko`s London dates will turn into a freak show:
"I`m not really sure how much I`d like to see Michael Jackson. I certainly appreciate Michael`s amazing talent as a musician and as a performer, and I`m sure there will be a lot of people who want to go and see him. I just feel a little bit concerned for him, because there is that freakish element. This is a man that`s Peter Pan and he`s in his 40s. I feel quite sorry for him, but as an artist I have a lot of respect for him, I think he`s a huge talent."
Luckily, Annie`s career is in a very different place from the once crowned King of Pop.
The 4-time Grammy winner is celebrating her 26-year-career with a solo retrospective album, containing the hits she had after her time in the Eurythmics.
"Normally I wouldn`t look back on what I have done, because I`m busy and engaged with what I`m doing in the present moment, but this has given me an opportunity to sort of go `right, OK what was that all about?` And that`s been really lovely. So I`ve had to pick, you know, the tracks that I think represent me best and look back on my creative work and it`s also made me think about my life and what I`ve been doing with it."
`The Annie Lennox Collection` includes classic Lennox tracks like `Why`, `Walking On Broken Glass` and `No More I Love You`s`.
But, like Michael Jackson, Lennox is reluctant to completely retire from doing live shows.
Even if any tour would have to be a lot less extensive than her early days on the road:
"I`m happy to perform to big audiences or to more intimate theatre audiences, it`s nice. I just don`t want to be constantly touring because I can, I could do that. It`s a fortunate position to be in, but I don`t want to lose my life on these tours, that suck the years away."
`The Annie Lennox Collection` is released on March 9th.
