Resemblance has been an amazing fluke: Madonna`s lookalike

Gurgaon: Singer Melissa Totten is enjoying being pop diva Madonna`s lookalike, as it gives her the chance to travel across the globe.

"It (resemblance) has been an amazing fluke in my life. It has helped me to travel around the world, entertain people, make them smile. What a dream! I am really lucky," Totten said. Melissa Totten is on a seven-city India tour for Black Dog`s "Madonna Forever" concert. After performing in Goa Aug 17, the singer flew down to Gurgaon for her performance, where she sang some of the famous Madonna songs like "Music" and "Papa don`t preach". Some of the popular Indian songs like "Mundiya tu bachke rahi" and "Jai ho" were mixed with the Madonna`s songs and played all along for audience`s entertainment. Her performance was well received, as she made the audience groove to many evergreen numbers. Totten felt women during the show were far more fun loving than the men. "The energy level was great and especially among the women. They were on for it! The men are a little reserved," she said. Totten is due to perform in Shillong Aug 24, Kolkata Aug 25, Bhubaneswar Aug 26, Vizag Aug 30, before bringing the curtains down in Hyderabad Aug 31. However, she rues she hasn`t been able to explore the country due to lack of time. "So far I haven`t been able to get out of the hotels because we have been adjusting, rehearsing and fine tuning for the shows. So I haven`t had a chance to relax and unwind," Totten said. "But they have graciously invited us to Shillong and will be doing some exploring in the next few days in the `Scotland` of India. I am very excited about that," she added. Asked if she is willing to collaborate with Indian musicians in future, Totten, who had visited India 18 years back, said: "I would love to. When I was here before, we had some Indian musicians and we met some Indian groups but now there is not much time," she said. Recalling, her last visit to the country, Totten said she was hooked on to Indian movies and songs. "You could not get me to turn the TV off on my last trip. I was watching Indian movies, but it was long time ago and I had time then," she said. IANS
