New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday kick-started his two-day visit to Gujarat during which he will attend a number of programmes in different areas, including a Textile Summit and a roadshow, and unveil some projects.

The PM was received in Ahmedabad by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani.

This is Modi's fourth visit this year to his home state where Assembly Elections are due by year-end.

Modi tweeted that he would go to Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Modasa and Gandhinagar.

"My first two programmes will be in Sabarmati Ashram. I am looking forward to taking part in the centenary celebrations of Sabarmati Ashram," he said.

His second programme at the Ashram was meant to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Shrimad Rajchandraji, a Guru to Mahatma Gandhi.

After that event, Modi would reach Aji dam on the outskirts of Rajkot city in the evening. The dam will be filled up with water from the Narmada river under the Sauni (Saurashtra Narmada Avataran Irrigation) Project.

"I will then travel to Rajkot where I will join the Samajik Adhikarita Shivir and interact with my Divyang (physically challenged) sisters and brothers. I shall attend a programme at Aji Dam, where there will be irrigation and water-related initiatives that will be dedicated to the nation," he in a series of tweets.

"The Prime Minister will distribute aid and devices worth Rs 35 crore to over 18,000 divyang people at a grand function at the Race Course ground on June 29. This will be the country's biggest camp in terms of the number of beneficiaries," Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Pradeepsinh Jadeja, had said in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

On Friday morning, there will be a programme to dedicate water supply schemes based on Vatrak, Mazum and Meswo Dams at Modasa in Aravalli district in north Gujarat.

The PM will inaugurate two water supply projects worth Rs 552 crore for the region and address a large gathering at the venue, a BJP release said.

In the afternoon the same day, he will inaugurate the Textiles India 2017 Summit.

"Government of India is undertaking several initiatives to support the textiles sector, which is a source of employment for several Indians," Modi tweeted.

"On June 30 evening, I shall inaugurate the integrated sports and entertainment 'Arena Project'," he said.
