No lock-ups, toilet for women at most police stations in Gurugram

GURUGRAM: Six out of 35 police stations in Gurgram do not even have ladies washrooms, a reply to Right to Information (RTI) application revealed. The application was filed by social activist Harinder Dhingra.

As per the RTI, the police stations which do not have ladies toilet are in Sector 14, New Colony, Bajghera, Sector 50, Sohna and Kherki Daula.

Not just toilets, the RTI revealed that out of 35 police stations, 18 do not have lock-ups for women prisoners despite the High Court orders.

The police stations which do not have lock up for ladies are Rajendra Park, Sector 14, Shivaji Nagar, New Colony, Udyog Vihar, Bajghera, Sector 10, Sector 18, Sector 9A, Sector 50, Metro, Sector 53, Sushant Lok, IMT Manesar, Sohna, Badshahpur, Kherki Daula, and Bhondsi.

Construction of toilets holds a key role in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Mission. The Central government had set for itself a target of building 65.82 lakh individual household toilets and five lakh community and public toilet seats.
