`Aashiqui 2`: Tulsi Kumar feels an emotional connect with the film

Mumbai: Playback singer Tulsi Kumar, who has sung two songs for ‘Aashiqui 2’, says her late father Gulshan Kumar was associated with the original therefore she feels an "emotional connect" with the remake.
Released in 1990, Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal-starrer ‘Aashiqui’ was co-produced by Kumar and Mahesh Bhatt. The latter had also directed the hit romantic saga.
"There is an emotional connect with the film. Doing the playback for the film was special for me as my father started the first part. It was his dream that I become a singer. With me being a part of the sequel as a playback singer, I guess my father would be extremely happy with me," she said. Singer of songs like "Tum jo aaye", "Love mera hit hit", and "Humko pyaar hua", says remakes comparison with 1990 ‘Aashiqui’ music is inevitable. "There will be comparisons with the first one. But everyone, who is part of the team, has given it their best," Tulsi said. ‘Aashiqui’ is still remembered for its romantic numbers "Jaane jigar jaaneman" and "Ek sanam chahiye" composed by Nadeem-Shravan and the singer says melody has been retained in the film as well. ‘Aashiqui 2’, again a romance-based story with Aditya Roy Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead roles, has music by Jeet Ganguly, Mithoon and Ankit Tiwari. In fact, "Tum hi ho" from ‘Aashiqui 2’ is a big hit on the YouTube. "The first part had melodious and romantic songs. Even in this one (remake soundtrack), the melody is the highlight. `Hum mar jaenge` will take you back to the 1990s. The other one is called `Piya aaye na`, which is a duet with KK. They are romantic and the melody has been kept intact," she said. Tulsi has also sung two songs for ‘I Love NY’ and has given her voice to the female version of "Mera Mann" from ‘Nautanki Saala’. Talking about the kind of songs she likes to sing, she said: "I have mostly tried my hand at romantic numbers. I did try a few fast paced numbers, but not many. But now I would like to experiment and try my hand at fast paced numbers too," she said. IANS
