Why is Ranbir going ga-ga over Shahid?

New Delhi: The just concluded Zee Cine Awards 2012 in Macau had its fair share of surprises, and some quite pleasant ones. Even as it wasn’t much fun to guess the winners of the awards, what really stood out was Ranbir Kapoor’s generous attitude towards his fellow contemporaries in B-town. After shaking a leg with Shahid Kapoor, Ranbir was flabbergasted by the formers’ dancing skills. Paying a tribute to the great ones we lost last year, Ranbir and Shahid danced to a medley of songs on his late grand uncle Shammi Kapoor and late actor Dev Anand at the Zee Cine Awards 2012. Talking about his act, Ranbir said, “It was all very last minute. Shahid was supposed to do it but then later on we decided to do it together. It is just a tribute we are paying to Dev saab and we are dancing to Khoya Khoya Chand in the ’50s style. We’re also doing Shammi Kapoor’s Yahoo. We are trying to do it in our own style. We are not trying to mimic them or copy them in any way. We want to be at least two per cent of what they have done in their lifetime. We wanted to honour the families and give them a memento from the film frat, and Zee — like a collage signed by the entire industry.” When asked was it difficult for him was to match steps with Shahid and he said, “Yes, of course! Shahid is not a great dancer, he is phenomenal! But I don’t have any complexes; I’m pretty secure as a person. I am what I am, and this is how I dance. He is a great guy and he helped me a lot, since this is also my first time. Everyone has been helpful actually and, like I said, there is no sense of negativity anywhere within the fraternity.” About rumours of Shahid and him being competitors, RK said, “Absolutely rubbish! I keep hearing things like I and Shahid, or Imran and I have some takkar, but there is nothing. We are all trying to do good work and that is all that really matters.”
