SC quashes rape charge against Madhur Bhandarkar

Mumbai: In a big relief to filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, the Supreme Court on Monday quashed a rape case filed against him by starlet Preeti Jain. Preeti Jain, a small time model-actress had alleged that Bhandarkar had raped her in the pretext of giving her work in the industry. The court quashed the case after Jain told the court that she is no longer interested in pursuing the case as it has been 9 years since she first lodged a case against the filmmaker. Bhandarkar too had said that the probe was not properly conducted and hence the charges should be quashed.
