‘Forged’ promotion gimmick lands Sanjay Gupta in troubled waters

Mumbai: In an attempt to make their film look realistic, filmmaker Sanjay Gupta and Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Films forged the letterhead of the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and sent out an invitation for the press conference of their upcoming film ‘Shootout at Wadala’.
Aimed as a promotional activity, the filmmaker sent out invitation letters to members of the press in a letter which looked like a letter from the office of the Police Commissioner.
As a result the Versova police station has filed an FIR against Sanjay Gupta and Balaji Films accusing them of forgery. According to our sources, the warrant that has been issued against Gupta, is a non bailable one.
The film, which is based on a real life incident that took place in the 1990s, narrates the story of a shootout that took place in Wadala involving the Mumbai police and the underworld mafia. The film’s cast was announced on Wednesday at the press conference. The multi starrer film will have stars like Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Tusshar Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut playing pivotal roles.
