Mumbai: Basketball legends A C Green and Teresa Edwards today lauched NBA’s first community basketball league in the country -- the Mahindra-NBA Challenge 2010 here.
The Mahindra Group and the US-based National Basketball Association venture will be held for seven weeks every year starting mid-April in the cities of Mumbai, Bangalore and Ludhiana.
The city-based league will have 16 boys and as many girls teams in the age groups of 14-17 and 18 and above.
Green and Teresa, who imparted coaching lessons to participants in the league here, will now travel to Indore, and Bangalore to launch the league there.
The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) will work with NBA to implement and oversee league operations across all markets.
