Dev Patel`s mum urged him to strip off for TV show

London, Feb 04: ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ star Dev Patel’s mother has revealed that she encouraged him to strip off for his first TV show.Anita Patel, 45, said that her 18-year-old son was nervous about baring all for his breakthrough role in Channel 4 teen drama Skins.

However, the star`s mother made sure he didn`t turn down the chance of a lifetime. She said she did not mind him appearing nude in the show, which featured frequent storylines about sex and drugs. "He was apprehensive when he found out he`d have to appear naked. He said, `Oh God I am going to have to show my bum!` I told him: `It`s only a bum, you`ve seen lots of people`s bums before.` Now Dev thanks me for making him go to the audition," the Daily Express quoted her, as saying. And she admits that the family has been overwhelmed by the attention her son has received since landing the lead role in the Oscar-nominated ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. "I can`t believe Dev is being compared to Brad Pitt. It`s unreal," she added. ANI
