Girls Aloud notched up their fourth number one hit with their latest single "The Promise" going straight into the charts in top spot, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.

London, Oct 27: Girls Aloud notched up their fourth number one hit with their latest single "The Promise" going straight into the charts in top spot, the Official UK Charts Company said on Sunday.
It is the latest success for the group, which was formed on a TV talent show in 2002 and already boasts the most consecutive top 10 singles by a girl band.
They knocked last week`s number one "So What" by U.S. singer Pink down to second place. Dance act Guru Josh Project entered the charts in third place with "Infinity 2008" while U.S. cult rockers Kings of Leon stayed in fourth spot with "Sex On Fire". Razorlight`s "Wire To Wire" was the biggest climber, moving up 25 places to fifth. Veteran Australian rockers AC/DC entered the charts in top spot with their new album "Black Ice", keeping "Off With Their Heads", another new entry from the Kaiser Chiefs in second. The Kings of Leon were unchanged in third place with "Only By The Night", while "Right Now" by former "X Factor" winner Leon Jackson debuted in fourth and "Sacred Arias" by Welsh opera singer Katherine Jenkins was new in fifth.
