Hugh Jackman gets a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

Melbourne: Hugh Jackman has been honoured with the 2487th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Still on a high from his Golden Globe nomination for ‘Les Miserables,’ the Australian actor joins the illustrious company of entertainment greats. Jackman was joined by his wife and his ‘Les Miserables’ co-stars Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried at the ceremony, a leading daily has reported. “I’ll probably always remember Thursday, December 13 and I think I’m either going straight from here to buy a lottery ticket or to a casino because it just feels like someone is looking down on me in a very nice way at this moment,” he told a news channel. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which controls the awards, said Jackman was a popular choice. “Fans around the world have been consistently asking when this star will be dedicated,” Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said. “We are happy to say that now is the time. Hugh is one of the world’s most popular actors and we are excited that he is joining our Walk of Fame family,” she added. Jackman, 44, already has his hand prints embedded outside the famed Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, but the star is a crowning achievement for an actor who was a nobody in Hollywood a little over ten years ago.
