Hollywood star Jamie Foxx goes ugly for Oscars

London: Hollywood star Jamie Foxx decided to sacrifice his good looks for the sake of acting and got his teeth chiselled to look the part of a homeless man.The Oscar winning actor who plays the schizophrenic musical prodigy Nathaniel Ayers in new film `The Soloist`, said he wanted to be as authentic in the role as possible, reported Femalefirst.
"My teeth look like a piano. If I am dressed as a homeless person and then you see these great teeth, it would be ridiculous. I had them chiselled down and they looked a little crooked," said the 41-year-old actor who won an Academy Award for his portrayal of blind singer Ray Charles. This is not the first time that a Hollywood A-lister has gone ugly for the a role and six of the past 10 Best Actress Oscars awarded to women who`ve dulled their usually stunning looks for a film. Charlize Theron gained over 13 kg and coated her face in liquid latex to play serial killer Aileen Wuornos in 2003 film `Monster`, Nicole Kidman donned a prosthetic nose as Virginia Woolf in `The Hours` in 2002 while Hilary Swank found success playing unsightly tomboys in 1999`s `Boys Don`t Cry` and 2004 hit `Million Dollar Baby`. Fox, was so committed to the role, he spent weeks in disguise so that he could observe the real Nathaniel on the streets, even videotaping him to help develop his character. "I snuck downtown with a little bit of a disguise and I just hung out next to Nathaniel. I got a chance to see him get excited, and be happy, and sad, and play his music," said Fox. Bureau Report
