New Delhi: Leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday (March 9) staged a protest outside the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly against NCP leeader Nawab Malik. Slogans were also raised against the special public prosecutor (SPP) Pravin Chavan.

Video released by the news agency ANI, shows BJP leader sitting outside Maharashtra assembly raising slogans against both Chavan and Nawab Malik, demanding latter’s resignation.

BJP leaders can also be seen holding placards against Malik amid slogans like "Nawab Malik Dawood ka Dalal Hai" and "Thackeray Sarkar Haye Haye."

NCP leader Nawab Malik, who made headlines after he levelled serious allegations against NCB officer Sameer Wankhede, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with links with Dawood Ibrahim and money laundering case.

A Special PMLA court had sentenced the NCP leader Nawab Malik to 14-day judicial custody till March 21 in connection with the money laundering case.

Earlier in February, the ED had also conducted raids at the residence of Dawood Ibrahim`s sister Haseena Parkar in Mumbai in connection with the case.

Searches were carried out by the ED at several places linked to people associated with the underworld in Mumbai, informed sources said.

Meanwhile,  Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik on Tuesday urged the Bombay High Court to set aside his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate claiming it violated his fundamental right to life and liberty.

Earlier today, Maharashtra Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday accused the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government of hatching conspiracies to target its political opponents and misusing the police department.

Speaking on law and order in the state Assembly, Fadnavis submitted a pen drive containing "proof" to Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal.
