Parliament session live: Left MPs protest over GST; government to table key bills

As Parliament convened on Wednesday, members of Parliament from CPM and other Left parties staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue, demanding withdrawal of Goods and Services Tax (GST) on job works. While the Lok Sabha is slated to take up bills like the New Delhi International Arbitration Centre Bill 2019 and the Dentists Amendment Bill 2019, the Rajya Sabha will discuss the Central Education Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Bill 2019.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gopal Narayan Singh targets Bihar government for not paying attention to shortage of doctors and other key issues pertaining to the health sector. Speaking to news agency ANI, Singh said, "From Lalu ji's time till today there has been no improvement in condition of medical colleges in Bihar. There is shortage of doctors since then, neither has government paid attention. Filing affidavit in SC doesn't solve anything, it is weakness of Bihar government."

Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan defends her zero hour notice in Rajya Sabha over safety of women and children, saying there has been no development for women and children despite dedicated ministry. She told news agency ANI, "There is apathy. All the governments make ministries, but for women & children, no development takes place. There is a lot of difference in saying and doing."
