New Delhi: Possibly unable to digest his party's defeat in Goa and Punjab Assembly elections 2017, AAP party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has alleged a foul play in counting of results.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday in the national capital, Kejriwal said, ''EVMs may have been tampered with in Punjab.''
The AAP chief further said, ''Our numbers don't add up here as nearly 25 to 30% of AAP votes were transferred to Akali-BJP in Punjab.''
''Our vote share went to Akalis and Congress won in Punjab. Akali's victory would've made it too obvious. They only wanted to keep AAP out, ' Kejriwal alleged.
How is this possible? Kejriwal said, while adding, ''questions are being raised on voting machines, I urge the Election Commission to investigate the matter.''
People who tamper EVMs, they should answer why they didn't do so in Delhi and Bihar? Arvind Kejriwal asked.
While questioning the efficacy and accuracy of the EVM machines, the AAP chief said, ''Developed countries have given up EVMs, should we not rethink. Even the BJP, including Advaniji had said that EVMs can be tampered.''
''Supreme Court has said that EVM is vulnerable to tampering, we aren't saying it. I know you all will make fun of me, hash tag me,'' Kejriwal said.
Making an appeal to the poll panel, Delhi CM said, ''It is Election Commission's responsibility to keep people's faith in EVM. They cannot shirk responsibility.''
Kejriwal, however, humbly accepted the results of Goa and Punjab elections and called for introspection.
''We know it is too late to declare Punjab, Goa elections void but this is for future, faith has to be restored in electoral process,'' Kejriwal added.
Meanwhile, BSP chief Mayawati too joined the chorus and said that her party will approach court demanding a probe into UP assembly election results 2017.
She was the first person to allege that EVMs used in UP were tempered.
