SRINAGAR: Tasaduq Mufti, the younger brother of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehboobah Mufti and a top Bollywood cinematographer, resigned on Friday from the post of coordinator of the CM's grievances cell.
The chief minister is reportedly keen to nominate him as a member of the legislative council. The proposal has been reportedly circulated among the cabinet members and after its nod, it will be sent to the Governor for his assent.
Tasaduq has reportedly resigned from the post “with immediate effect”.
Unlike his elder sister, who has been in the thick-and-thin of state politics spanning several decades, Tasaduq has been considered a reluctant politician.
However, he decided to join her as a coordinator of the grievances cell after the death of his father and former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
Their father's demise brought Tasaduq close to his sister who had broken down after the loss and needed the family's emotional support.
“Most of them (Cabinet members) have already given their nod to it”, and it would be now sent to Governor NN Vohra for approval, a media report quoted a source as saying.
