Shimoga is one of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka and it will be going to polls on April 23.

Guddappa of Bahujan Samaj Party, S Madhubangarappa of Janata Dal (Secular) and BY Raghavendra of Bharatiya Janata Party are a few prominent candidates contesting for general elections 2019 from Shimoga Lok Sabha constituency in Karnataka.

Voting for Lok Sabha election in Karnataka will be held in two phases on April 18 and April 23 and counting will be held on May 23.

Shimoga parliamentary constituency covers eight assembly segments –  Shimoga Rural, Bhadravati, Shimoga, Tirthahalli, Shikaripura, Soraba, Sagar and Byndoor.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha election, B. S. Yeddyurappa of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) – won by getting an overwhelming margin of just over 3.66 lakh votes. He had defeated Manjunath Bhandary of the Indian National Congress (INC). Yeddyurappa had secured 606216 votes while Bhandary got 242911 votes.
