Delhi HC seeks response for illegal trading of auto permit

The Delhi High Court on Friday issued notices to the city government and its Transport Commissioner to file a response on alleged illegal trading of permits for running three wheelers in the capital.

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday issued
notices to the city government and its Transport Commissioner
to file a response on alleged illegal trading of permits for
running three wheelers in the capital.

A bench headed by acting Chief Justice Madan B Lokur
asked the Transport Commissioner to respond to an allegation
made by an NGO that some private financiers are indulging in
trading of the vehicles along with permit for Rs five lakh
as against the official cost of Rs 1.25 lakh.
The NGO, Nyaya Bhoomi an association of ten thousand
auto drivers, pleaded guidelines be framed by the High Court
for issuing permits and for financing auto rickshaws.

"It is a matter of great concern that the practice of
illegal trading in permits by private financiers of auto
rickshaws has artificially escalated the market value of
auto rickshaw together with permit to Rs five lakh against the
official cost of Rs.1.25 lakh," the NGO pleaded.
The court after hearing its arguments issued the
notices to the government and transport authority asking them
to file their response by Monday when the matter would be
taken up for further hearing.
