New Delhi: Delhi Police on Saturday claimed to
have busted a high-profile interstate prostitution racket with
the arrest of the alleged kingpin who they said was an MBA
holder and had worked with a multinational bank in the
capital.

32-year-old Sudhanshu Gupta is "suave" and "educated",
according to the police, and was running the prostitution
racket through his web portal with clients in all major cities
of the country.

Police said the accused holds an MBA from Ghaziabad,
and is currently based in Jodhpur.

They said the crime branch received information
yesterday that the suspect, who is wanted in Bhopal, would be
travelling to Delhi.

The team then laid a trap and managed to nab the
accused, who disclosed the details of his business on
intensive interrogation.

Gupta worked as regional manager at a multinational
bank at Delhi till 2004 after which he was involved with a
share broking company before starting his tours and travel
business in Jodhpur.

Police said the man met a call girl on a trip to Delhi
in 2010 and together with her started his escort web portal
through which he developed a network all over the country.

"The clients entered their requisition through the
web portal. He catered to the requisition of the client by
getting in touch with the nearest available call girl as per
the requirement of the client," said a statement from the
police.

Police said the accused used to take a 30 to 40 percent of the money for every call girl which was deposited in his bank account.

The case came to light in March when a call girl
arrested in Bhopal disclosed the details of the network.

The Bhopal Crime Branch has already seized the bank
accounts of the accused which according to them show
transactions worth lakhs of rupees.

Gupta had put his web portal for sale following the
crackdown.
