New Delhi: The monsoon session of Parliament
will begin on August 1 and is likely to continue for about six
weeks.
Subject to exigencies of government business, the session
is likely to conclude on September 8.
This was announced by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat in a
press release. The Lok Sabha Secretariat had made the
announcement a couple of days back.
The session is expected to be stormy with the opposition
planning to take the government to task on various issues,
particularly price rise, corruption, land acquisition,
Telangana, rail accidents and Maoist violence.
The government, on its part, may bring crucial
legislations like the Nuclear Liability Bill, the Women`s
Reservation Bill and a legislation on Direct Tax Code.
The decision to convene the session was taken at a meeting
of Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs last month.
