Kolkata: In eye-catching hues of yellow, black and blue, a fresh graffiti wall mural has been put up here as part of an international project to highlight the importance of human effort to clean the Ganga.

Graffiti artist Samita Chatterjee (or Samsam) of Aerosol Assassins Crew painted the boundary wall of the German consulate in Alipore area for the Third International Graffiti Project earlier this week.

"Everybody talks about the Ganga being polluted and how we have destroyed the river. I am trying to show how we can pitch in and help clean it," Samsam told IANS.

The wall mural shows a youth trying to clean the river, represented in dark blue and black and dotted with fish bones, painted in white-grey, that highlight the toxic build up.

In the backdrop is a yellow-orange sun.

The mural, along with several others, will be there for passers-by to observe.

Five others artists participated in the project.
