New Delhi, March 02: In a city considered a tourist haven and dotted with numerous gardens what is it that drags people year after year to the Mughal Gardens of Rashtrapati
Bhavan?

"It is the evergreen beauty and serenity of the place which makes me come here every year", says a visitor. "Though there are numerous gardens in Delhi and surrounding areas this is the most well maintained."

"Every year we get to see some new varieties of rare plants and flowers. Some of the most rare species of plants are to be found here,” according to another visitor.

Though visitors come from far and near there has been a perceptible dip in their numbers due to the increased security threat to the capital, garden officials say.

Many visitors though complained that it was the strict security regulations which made regular trips difficult.

However, Dr Zileram, garden superintendent says, "It is partly the fame and partly the evergreen beauty of these gardens that has attracted people to the Mughal Gardens over
the years.”

Every year there are new flowers, new trees and a somewhat new layout making the Mughal Gardens unique in its own way, he says adding this year's attraction were the bonsai trees some of which are around 50 to 60 years old.
