Mumbai, March, 15: Homecoming has never been sweeter for this dusky beauty. Though her parents still ask her to fold and put her clothes back in the cupboard, they do flush with joy and pride every time they set eyes on their daughter Freida. Talking about what life really is like after ‘Slumdog’ happened to her, Pinto digs deep into herself to express what she really feels like. Talking to a news channel, she speaks about her role as a model, actor, daughter and the newly-discovered overwhelming responsibility of being an international celebrity.Replying to the question as to what decides her criteria for selection of roles or modelling assignments, she said that the major criteria was comfort level. As an actor she said, she needed to be comfortable doing what she was required to do. “In acting I go by instinct. But not so in modelling.”
Replying to another question as to how her parents have reacted to her celebrity she said her parents still say, ‘First fold up your clothes and put them back in the cupboard.’ But, she said they are very happy. “They realise that it is a hard earned joy, and are glad for it all the more.” Pinto though, said that she wasn’t getting many calls from Bollywood. “I am waiting. I would love to hear from Bollywood. I admire Hindi film industry a lot, and really appreciate the effort and variety that they come up with,” she said. About rumours and controversies she said that if she feels she has done nothing wrong, then she keeps silent. She added that media should learn to give privacy. “I have never been a page 3 reader, but now I kind of understand what those who are being talked about feel. Kudos to all who brave this and still maintain silence!” In reply to a question whether she stopped her parents from talking to media, she said that she can’t stop my parents from talking to people. “I can’t simply ask them that please don’t talk to newspapers, don’t give comments to all.” She denied rumours that she was ever married. “I was never married; and honestly, I am not thinking of marriage now,” she said.
