South Korea on Friday reported one fresh case of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) virus, taking the total number to 181.

The health ministry reported of two deaths, escalating the toll to 31, Xinhua news agency reported. The fatality rate due to the virus has risen to 17.1 percent.

The number of those quarantined rose from 2,642 on Thursday to 2,931 on Friday.
