Ajit Doval meets Rajnath Singh ahead of Indo-Pak NSA talks

National Security Adviser Ajit Doval reportedly had a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital on Friday.

New Delhi: National Security Adviser Ajit Doval reportedly had a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in the national capital on Friday.

According to television reports, the meeting was reported to have focused on the agenda likely to be taken up during Monday`s talks with Sartaj Aziz, Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif`s Adviser on Foreign Affairs and National Security.

Friday`s meeting came as the official spokesman of the Ministry of External Affairs said that India has advised Pakistan about the inappropriateness of Aziz meeting Hurriyat representatives in New Delhi on August 23.

Vikas Swaroop, the official spokesperson of the MEA, stated: "India has advised Pakistan yesterday that it would not be appropriate for Mr. Sartaj Aziz to meet with Hurriyat representatives during his visit to India as it would not be in keeping with the spirit and intent of the Ufa understanding to jointly work to combat terrorism. We have also sought confirmation of our understanding of the agenda for the NSA-level talks that was conveyed to the Pakistani side on 18 August 2015."

The Pakistan Foreign Office has said that it will not shy away from talking with leaders from Kashmir.
