New Delhi: The Centre on Friday submitted in the Supreme Court its response on a petition filed by Congress challenging Arunachal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa's report recommending the President's rule in Arunachal Pradesh.
The Centre told Supreme Court that Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki played communal politics and there was complete breakdown of the constitutional machinery in the state, thus defending the President's rule in the state.
In a report filed before the Supreme Court, the Home Ministry alleged that Chief Minister Tuki has been encouraging indiscipline, lawlessness, politicizing the government officials by inciting, provoking and funding an apex communal organization mainly comprising by government officials to publicly organize rallies for recall of governor's orders and demanding his resignation.
The affidavit filed by the government further alleged that Tuki had written a letter to the Home Minister on December 8, which was highly defamatory and unparliamentary.
Arunachal Pradesh Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa on January 28 submitted to the Supreme Court, in a sealed cover, his reports to the central government on the political crisis in the northeastern state including the one in which he recommended President's rule be imposed.
