PM Modi's reply to Sonia's jibe: Strong black money laws have unnerved 'Hawalabaaz'

Launching a blistering attack on the Congress for disrupting Monsoon Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that almost all parties had agreed that Parliament should function and decisions be taken, but there was one party that never agreed.

Bhopal: Launching a blistering attack on the Congress for disrupting Monsoon Session of Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said that almost all parties had agreed that Parliament should function and decisions be taken, but there was one party that never agreed.

Addressing party workers in Bhopal, PM Modi took a dig at the Congress saying, there was a time when BJP had 2 MPs and the then Congress PM mocked at the BJP repeatedly. But the party, which once had 400 MPs, now has only around 40 elected representatives in the Lok Sabha.

In a remark aimed at Congress president Sonia Gandhi, PM Modi said due to his government's strict measures on black money, 'hawalabaaz' are feeling troubled.

"The 'hawalabaaz' are sensing deep trouble and that is why they are trying to create hurdles in Parliament," the PM said.

Earlier, while addressing a meeting of the Congress Working Committee, Sonia had attacked PM Modi, saying he has been "reduced to unedifying flip flops" and most of his poll promises were nothing more than "hawabaazi" (empty talk).

Addressing the BJP workers, the PM further said, “India wants to move ahead and is standing firm despite the gloomy global economic scenario. Let's not lose this opportunity and let Parliament work.”

“This is a government that doesn't only make statements, but has a roadmap to execute an initiative that is initiated,” PM exhorted.

PM Modi said it is the responsibility of every political group to leave no stone unturned in order to meet public expectations after election victory.

Further criticising the Congress, the prime minister said: “I appeal to those who have been defeated, rejected by people, that in respect of democracy please let the nation move ahead.”
