New Delhi: Demanding removal of Assam's acting Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya for his sectarian remarks, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Friday said "he doesn't deserve to continue as Governor".
"In my long political career I have seen many governors, but not one like him. Governor Acharya, who was an RSS ideologue, acting as a Sangh ideologue even after assuming the office, which is against the spirit of the Constitution," said Gogoi.
"The Governor office is the most responsible office, but he is not maintaining its dignity. He says Hindustan belongs to the Hindus and Muslims can go to Pakistan," said the Chief Minister in response to Acharya's widely reported remark that "Hindustan is for Hindus" and "Indian Muslims were free to go to Bangladesh or Pakistan".
The Chief Minister alleged that Acharya was nominating RSS followers in the Dibrugarh University Academic Council. "He is nominating RSS people in Bodoland and encouraging BJP MLAs to speak against the Congress Government in the state."
