New Delhi: The alleged Indian recruiter for Islamic State (IS), Afsha Jabeen has revealed that nine “active members” of the banned terror organisation are active in India.

Thirty-eight-year-old Jabeen has also said that out of these nine active members of the Islamic State militant organisation, two belong to Mumbai, rest are from Hyderabad, Bangalore and Jammu and Kashmir.

As per the investigating officials,  the people she named are under close watch.

She disclosed the above information in front of the intelligence agencies during an interrogation process, a Zee Media report said on Sunday.

Jabeen further disclosed names of few potential IS recruitment organisations which are working in India.

Jabeen was deported last month by UAE authorities for pro-IS activities and was arrested by Cyberabad police.

Jabeen, who hails from Tolichowki area of Hyderabad and lived in Dubai, had been portraying herself as a British national while luring youth for ISIS through social media.

While surfing the Internet for Islamic religious literature, she came in contact with Salman Mohiuddin, a chemical engineer who returned to Hyderabad from the US, and the two allegedly floated several online groups to indoctrinate and recruit youths to join the IS.

In her confession, Jabeen had earlier said that she along with Salman Mohiuddin created multiple Facebook groups to propagate Islamic State ideology.

Mohiuddin, also from Hyderabad, was arrested in January this year at the airport when he was preparing to board a flight to Dubai on way to Syria via Turkey.

After that arrest, Afsha came under the lens of Indian security agencies as Salman had allegedly confessed during questioning to have opened several Facebook accounts along with one 'Nicky Joseph' of British national living in Dubai.

He had said that she had influenced and invited him to join her in Dubai in order to go to Syria.

Jabeen had also reportedly told the investigators earlier that she created a Facebook group "Islam Vs Christianity Friendly Discussion" to propagate Islam. And to manage the account, she assumed the pseudonym 'Nicky Joseph'.
