Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is meeting French President Francois Hollande in Paris. On agenda of the talks are critical defence and nuclear issues as well as terrorism. Here are the live updates:

Informing about PM Modi's interactions with French delegation, the MEA spokesperson said, "PM's meeting with CEOs focused on infrastructure and defence with idea of "Make In India" on mind."

Akbaruddin summed that PM's interest was to get investments to India.

"Smart cities, waste management, cleaning Ganga, high speed trains were focused on," he said, and added, "Make in India in defence being a priority for PM was an idea that was shared."

The two nations delved upon the scourge of terrorism as well. "(There is) solidarity that India and France have about working together on counter-terrorism," said Akbaruddin.

"I can confirm that we expect progress on defence front. Have been working on these but calls are taken by leaders of countries," he added.

26/11 mastermind Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi's release too found a mention in the talks.

"In context of fighting against terrorism, twice French delegation raised issue of unfortunate release of Lakhvi in Pakistan," Akbaruddin informed.

"The French delegation shared the view that this (Lakhvi's release) wasn’t good news for India or the world. And they strongly expressed solidarity for India," he added.

"PM Modi said terrorism knows no border. (There was a) reflection of commonality of views against terrorism by India and France," the MEA spokesperson summed up.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi went to the French National Assembly and met with President of the National Assembly Claude Bartolone.

Prime Minister Modi is visiting France as part of his three-nation tour for the first time since assuming office last year.

He is scheduled to visit the World War-I memorial and pay tribute to about 10,000 Indians, who lost their lives while fighting alongside France.

He will seek to speed up price negotiations for the building of two reactors by state-run Areva SA of 1,650 megawatts each in Maharashtra.
