President Pranab Mukherjee pays homage to martyrs at Amar Jawan Jyoti

New Delhi: PresidentPranab Mukherjee paid homage to the nation's martyrs at the Amar Jawan Jyotihere.

President Mukherjee placed a wreath at the base of the memorial dedicated to the "Unknown Soldier" and saluted the martyrs amid tight security.

Tight security was in place in the Old City of Delhi for the 69th Independence Day celebrations, which included the deployment over 40,000 security personnel and roof top markings for the first time.

Apart from the above security measures, unmanned aerial vehicles, choppers and 500 CCTV cameras have been installed at high altitude to locate crucial and sensitive spots.

Snipers have been deployed at designated spots in most of the 400 marked rooftops for the first time by Delhi Police.
