New Delhi: A high level meeting is scheduled to take place in the North Block office of the Home Ministry on Monday to review the security situation in the Northeast.

The high-level meeting will be attended by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Intelligence Bureau and RAW officials.

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is also expected to meet Rajnath Singh later today.

Recently, in an attack, claimed to be surgical strikes, Indian Army commandos had hit two camps of insurgents at two locations along the Nagaland and Manipur borders with Myanmmar, inflicting serious damage on insurgents.

The action was in retaliation to an attack on an Army convoy in Chandel in Manipur on June 4 in which 18 Indian soldiers were killed.

Surgical strikes from the Indian army was also necessitated in view of intelligence warning that insurgents from across the border would carry out more such attacks like June 4 to avenge the killing of their comrades and the counter-operation launched by the Indian government.

NSCN(K), which reneged from a ceasefire in March, has been involved in a series of attacks in tandem with some other militant groups under the banner of 'United Liberation Front of South East Asia'.
