New Delhi: Central Reserve Police Force boss Prakash Mishra will travel to Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday in order to review the security arrangements in the state, including that for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra.

Officials said that the CRPF Director General will tour key locations in Kashmir Valley and in Jammu for a first hand view of the internal security arrangements put in place by his force in coordination with the Army, state police and other central paramilitary forces like BSF.

Mishra will also chair a meeting of his officers tasked with carrying out operations and discharging law and order duties in the Valley and other areas of Jammu, they said.

This is the second time that Mishra is travelling to J&K since he took over the reins of the paramilitary force in late December last year.

CRPF has deployed close to 65 battalions (about 65,000 personnel) in J&K.

Mishra will also be given a presentation by the field commanders of CRPF regarding placement of battalions and security units for the Yatra, which is slated to begin on July 2.

Sources said that the CRPF DG is expected to call on Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and Governor NN Vohra during his two-day visit.
