J&K gets from Centre over Rs 156 crore for drought relief

Jammu and Kashmir has received Rs 156.79 crores from the Centre to provide relief to the 2009-10 drought hit areas of the state, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said.

and Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla said on Saturday.

The state had requested for the central assistance in the wake of the drought of 2009-10 and the high-level committee had accordingly approved this amount for drought management in J&K, he told reporters here.

Bhalla said it includes Rs 90 crore for agriculture input subsidy, two crore for drinking water supply and Rs 64.79 crore for assistance for providing free ration to the
affected families for 90 days during the period of 2009-10.
