Geelani called for protests after Friday prayers over the youth's killing in Udhampur.
"Restrictions have been imposed in Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R.Gunj, Safakadal and Maisuma areas of Srinagar city today (Friday)," a police officer told IANS.
Restrictions have also been imposed in south Kashmir's Bijbehara and Anantnag towns.
Naseer Ahmad, 25, was critically injured during clashes with the security forces in Bijbehara town on Wednesday.
The youth was hit on the forehead by a tear smoke shell.
"His condition is now stable," attending doctors told IANS here.
Meanwhile, a local tanker driver, Javaid Ahmad was attacked by a mob on the Srinagar-Jammu in Awantipora town on Thursday.
"He was hit on the head by a stone. Doctors have described his condition as critical," a police officer here said.
