Curfew in Hazaribagh relaxed till 6 pm today

Curfew was clamped in Hazaribagh and its surrounding areas on April 17 following a clash between two groups, who torched shops on the last day of Ram Navami festival.

Hazaribagh: Curfew, imposed following clashes between two groups, was relaxed in Hazaribagh and its surrounding areas at 8 am on Thursday.

The relaxation will continue till 6 pm today as the situation is fast coming back to normalcy.

On Wednesday, curfew was relaxed from noon to 5 pm following improvement in the situation.

 

Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar, meanwhile, told reporters that two persons were identified in connection with "misleading posts" in Facebook and they would be arrested.

Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha said another body was on Wednesday found from a house at a place in the town, two days after the police had found the first body.

Curfew was clamped in the area on April 17 following a clash between two groups, who torched shops and pelted stones at policemen on the last day of the Ram Navami festival.

Trouble started when objectionable recorded slogans were played in a Ram Navami procession triggering clash between the two groups near Hazaribagh railway station. (With PTI inputs)
