Palakkad district is one of the 14 districts of Kerala. Situated at the foot of the Western Ghats, Palakkad is the gateway to Kerala from the north.
The district consist of six talukas – Alathur, Chittur, Mannarkkad, Ottappalam, Palakkad and Pattambi.
Palakkad went to panchayat polls in the second phase on November 5. The district registered voter turnout of 77%. There are 44,388 candidates contesting across 12,651 wards in the second phase.
