BJP alleges insult to tricolour by NCP MLA; Maharashtra Assembly Speaker to examine

Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde today said he will give a ruling tomorrow on the alleged insult to the national flag by an opposition legislator.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Haribhau Bagde today said he will give a ruling tomorrow on the alleged insult to the national flag by an opposition legislator.

BJP MLA Ashish Shelar raised the issue in the House.

"I have seen a video clip which shows the tricolour being insulted by the (NCP) MLA. It was being carried like a bag and it looked as if someone had wiped his face with it," Shelar said.

The clip was shot when opposition MLAs were speaking to the reporters at the legislature complex on the issue of CM Devendra Fadnavis' 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' remarks, he said.

Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse said the Speaker should examine the video clip.

"We will not tolerate the insult to the national flag," Khadse said.

The Speaker said legislators should be extra cautious while handling the national flag. "I will examine the clip and give the ruling on the issue tomorrow," Bagde said.
