Maharashtra to set up committees to stop crime against women

 Maharashtra Government has decided to set up committees at police commissionerates and at district level to stop crime against women.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Government has decided to set up committees at police commissionerates and at district level to stop crime against women.

As per a decision taken by Home department, these panels will monitor and review the work related to establishment of CCTVs, providing adequate security cover to deserted and secluded private roads and proper lighting on streets.

The committees, which will meet every month, will take the stock of security-related measures and make necessary recommendations related to safety of women to the concerned authority.

Additional DG (law and order) and Special IG will take quarterly review of the functioning of these committees.

In another decision, a record of all convictions statewide will be maintained and noting would be made in confidential reports (CRs) of inquiry officers.
