ASP develops target steel for ballistic testing

New Delhi, May 20: State-owned Alloy Steels Plant at Durgapur has developed target steel for ballistic testing used by the defence sector in 2002-03.

New Delhi, May 20: State-owned Alloy Steels Plant at Durgapur has developed target steel for ballistic testing used by the defence sector in 2002-03.
The target steel used by defence sector has been
developed with stringent specification of chemistry rolled at
Rourkela and Bokaro steel plants, an official release said.

The plant has also developed casting of jackal steel
(boron bearing) slabs and special steel for application in
nuclear power plants.

It exported 1000 tonnes of stainless steel during the
year and achieved record sales of Rs 38 crore of value-added
products.

Production of crude and saleable steel grew by 16 per
cent during 2002-03 and sales rose by 14 per cent over the
last year.
