Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 01: Stating that BJP was giving final touches to its campaign programme for the coming Lok Sabha polls, party president M Venkaiah Naidu today said BJP would fight the election on "development agenda rather than political issues" and was ready to face 'the triangular contest now on the cards.'
Addressing a press meet here, Naidu asserted that Ayodhya and Hindutva would not be electoral issues for the party. "Our stand on Ayodhya is clear. When rivals raise the issue, party is forced to reply. BJP will not contest the poll on Ayodhya issue," he said.

Economic policy and development achieved in various fields during the five-year rule of the bjp-led nda government would dominate poll campaign, he said, adding "we want to create a patriotic fervour among people by putting a new theme based on the inherent strength of the nation."

Naidu said that Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's popularity was growing day by day and it was very significant to note it was on the rise even during his fifth year in office.

"Normally, at the fag end of the rule, due to discontent and unhappiness among people, image of the leader witnesses a climb down. However, all indications are working in favour of BJP and NDA and there is no anti-incumbency factor," he said.
