BJP on Monday demanded the Jammu and
Kashmir government publish a 'white paper' on the demographic
changes that had taken place in Jammu and suburbs during last
several years.

The ruling National Conference (NC) has helped setting
up of various colonies of a particular community in and around
Jammu city with a view to neutralising the traditional vote
banks of other political parties, BJP chief whip in the State
Assembly Choudhary Piara Singh told reporters in Jammu.

Alleging that more than 35,000 people from Kashmir valley
had been allowed to construct houses in the city and its
suburbs, he said BJP was not against coming up of colonies
with a mixed population.

“But the NC government had helped setting up of colonies
by a particular community in order to make Jammuiets a
minority in the region,” Singh alleged and demanded a white
paper from the government on the issue.

BJP state vice president and MLA Ashok Khajuria alleged
that some NC leaders, who want to make Jammu city a major target of militants after Kashmir valley, in collusion with government officials were grabbing forest and government lands illegally and allowing outsiders to settle there.

He said that Pakistan's ISI could easily create pockets
of influence in these colonies for future disturbances.

“The BJP would launch an agitation both inside and outside
the state assembly demanding steps to ensure justice to all
the three regions of the state,” they said.
